ITINERARY
DAY 1
Arrival in Portland, Maine. At night, we meet for dinner and orientation
DAY 2
At dawn, we head out to photograph Maine’s oldest and most photogenic lighthouse, Portland Headlight, which is situated on the spectacular shores of Fort Williams Park. Sunrise here is glorious. Time for breakfast and a walking shoot of the historical Portland Old Port. After lunch, we set out to photograph Cape Elizabeth, where basaltic columns reach into the ocean. We finish the day at the Portland Headlight, where we bid goodbye to our first day of shooting.
DAY 3
After breakfast, we drive Route 24 through the “finger islands” to Orrs and Bailey Islands. This route is full of small coves harbouring the lobster fleet. After lunch in Brunswick, we shoot the Pemaquid Lighthouse, which is perched in a rocky outcrop where waves crash on the rugged coastline. Time to head to Camden, where we spend the night.
DAY 4
After breakfast, we travel north along the coast to Rockport and Camden, two of the most iconic seaside towns in Maine. Scores of sailboats and schooners adorn these bays, and the food is to die for. We spend most of the day shooting these gems before arriving at Bar Harbour, where our Acadia National Park adventure begins. We shoot sunset at the Bass Harbour Lighthouse, another iconic spot in this state. We spend the night at the wonderful village of Bar Harbour.
DAY 5
Up to Cadillac Mountain for sunrise. This is the first point in the United States to be touched by the rising sun. From here, you see all of Acadia National Park. The entire mountain is covered in colours as the light softly hits the moving leaves. During the day, we photograph at Duck Brook Bridge, Sieur de Monts, Jordan Pond and other iconic spots of the park.
DAY 6
Time for dramatic moving images and no better place to achieve that than Thunder Hole on the park’s coast. Crashing waves and sunrise are the perfect canvas for those veil-laden images. On to Bubble Pond and its wonderful reflections and picturesque creek. After a late breakfast, we photograph the Somerville Bridge as we continue our image search through Loop Road.
DAY 7
Early Departure for Portland’s Airport
